We listened to a speech from Zhao Bin, a landscape architect. He is a professor in Nanjing Forestry University. He told us a lot about gardening. A good garden includes several elements.

He told us what gardening is. Chinese words "YUAN" means garden. We found that a garden is made up by walls, water, soil and woods. It is very interesting, because our ancestors have told us what garden is from Chinese words. The word “GARDEN” also tells us what garden is. “GAR” means fence, and “DEN” means paradise. China mainly has four kinds of garden. 1. Royal garden 2. Private garden 3. Temple garden 4. Landscape architecture

The classical gardens of Suzhou are the most famous garden in China. Suzhou gardens are the old urban forest. In the gardens, all the things are calm and peaceful. However, outside the garden is a modern city. The gardens were created as the only peaceful place in the city. The gardens also represent culture and history. Surging Wave Pavilion was built in Song dynasty. It has been owned by Su Shunqin, a Chinese poet. The gardens are landscape painting and poem.

There are several characteristics of Suzhou Gardens. The architects always use grasses and stream to represent real mountains and rivers in the world. Rockery is one of the most important parts of landscape art. The Humble Administrator's Garden is a special one. The mountain is in front of the gate. Cao xueqing was affected by this. He said it means coming straight to the point. Many famous people us rocks as their spirit. Actually, most things in garden are not natural. Artist put fish and grasses in the garden. The streams in Suzhou Garden are running water. It makes the gardens more natural.

Landscape architecture is attractive. I knew many ways which architects used for decorating the garden. The architects put all their efforts into gardening. They want to create the most comfortable garden in the world. I am interested in art. I also want to create a beautiful place for people. It is a good chance to learn more about art. I should work harder, so that I can achieve my goals.
