PANCAKE

Edward, Viola and I cooked pancake on April the 19th. Ms. Hadley taught Edward how to cook pancake, so that Edward can teach us. We bought the materials first. We bought a packet of flour, 3 packets of baking powder, bananas and milk. We cooked in Edward’s home.

Cooking pancake is an easy thing, but to make it delicious is difficult. We prepared two bowls. One is put dry ingredient. Another one is put wet ingredient. We must cook enough pancakes for 28 students and Ms. Bartell. We used about 3 bowls of flour, 500ml milk, 6 eggs, and all the baking powder. My duty is to mix the ingredients. Edward’s duty is to fry the pancake. Viola’s duty is to divide pancake into 29 parts.

The 1st step is to put enough flour into a bowl. The second step is to put baking powder into flour and mix them. The 3rd step is to put 1 teaspoon salt and 4 teaspoon sugar into flour. The 4th step is to put 3 tablespoons oil, eggs into a bowl of milk. Then mix the dry ingredient with the wet ingredients. After that, cook all the ingredients. Wait until the top of pancake bubbly and the bottom is brown. At last, roll the pancake and put bananas inside it.

We tried many times. The pancakes were always adust. Edward practised a lot. He can make the pancake beautiful. We worked together. We found cooking is interesting. We ate some pancakes as lunch. It’s really delicious.

VOLUNTEER WORKS

I did two volunteer works during holidays. I worked for Pin-an Pet Hospital and U.B.C coffee. They were two different kinds of work. I served special targets during my volunteer works. Working in U.B.C coffee is better than working in Pet Hospital.

I arrived in Pin-an Pet Hospital at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. The hospital is in a building. The office is on the first floor. All the pets are on the second. When I entered the building, I knew that it isn’t an easy work. The whole building was smelly. It’s full of the smelling of pets’ dejectas. The dog barked to me, when I went to the second floor. The dog was afraid of me.

All the animals were in cages. They looked unhealthy. I was not allowed to touch any animals in that hospital. Most animals in that hospital have disease. The manager of the hospital doesn’t want any animals hurt me. My duty was to clean the room. To clean the garbage is not a difficult thing, but the garbage includes pets’ dejactas. It’s too smelly to breathe. Luckily, I didn’t feel smelly anymore, because I have stayed in that room for a long time. I couldn’t feel any smell at that time. The dogs were barking, I was sweeping the floor at the same time. It’s very noisy in pet hospital.

I also went to U.B.C coffee to do volunteer work. It was easier than serving pets. The customers were polite and gentle. I started my work at 1 p.m. My duty is to take new customers to a clean table, and give them water. It’s sounds easy, but there were too many people come to U.B.C coffee to have lunch. I was very busy. I always forgot to give the customers water at beginning. There was a waitress helped me a lot. She reminded me to give the customers water several times. She told me, “If you always forget to do things, boss won’t pay for my job.” About half hour later, I can do my job well.

I met an interesting customer in U.B.C coffee. He is a Thai. He put his hands together to greet me. I took him to a table politely. He speaks English to me. I try to communicate with him. A U.B.C coffee’s waitress was helping me to explain the menu. We spent a long time on ordering. Finally, he ordered successfully.

The works in Pin-an Pet Hospital and U.B.C coffee are meaningful. I got some information about careers. The vet has to take care of all the pets. They must to make sure they won’t get disease from animals. The vet must be patient and they should love animals. The people who work in the restaurant also must be patient. The waitress should work carefully. They can’t forget customers. They must communicate with customers politely. Working in the restaurant can meet different kinds of people. I like to communicate with people. It’s interesting to communicate with different kinds of people.

SNOW WHITE

Our class, 10C performed a play SNOW WHITE on GCA Art Festival in December. Almost everyone in our class performed in this play. The director was Abby. I pretended mirror.

I held a big card to pretend mirror. I like acting, but I was nervous. My gesture was tough. Abby is good at acting. She pretended Queen. She acted naturally. She moved many people. I am too shy. I can be outgoing.

“Mirror, Mirror. Who is the most beautiful woman in the world?” Queen asked. “You, O Your Majesty, are the most beautiful woman of all.” I answered. It’s my first scene. I circled with Queen on the stage, and quit the scene. “Mirror, Mirror. Who is the most beautiful woman of all?” Queen asked. “You, O Your Majesty, are the most beautiful woman of all, but there is a young lady.” My 2nd scene was more natural. I added some gestures to make this play more interesting. In my 3rd scene, Queen is going to kill me. I almost fell down on the stage at that time, and I try to keep my balance. I finished the performance with 10C. We played a wonderful game on Art Festival.

Mirror just has 3 lines, but I am also the main character. Everyone on the stage is the main character. If a person didn’t act seriously, this play won’t be successful. Fortunately, all the students in our class tried their best. We will make the show better. This time, just Snow White and Queen have special dresses. We’ll make some props to let our play becomes a real show.

SUPER SHOW AND TVXQ'S CONCERET

Sydney and I went to Olympic Centre to watch Super Junior’s concert on January the 17st. We also watched TVXQ’s concert on April the 4th. Super Junior is a thirteen-member boy band from Korea. They are the largest group under SM entertainment. TVXQ is a five-member boy band from Korea. They are also from SM entertainment. TVXQ has the most fans in the world, according to Guinness World Records.

These two concerts are different from Chinese singers’ concert. The whole concert likes a game. The extending stage connects with the main stage. Our favorite stars perform on the extending stage. The distance between us is short. It makes us felt well. Super Junior’s fans usually use the color of blue to support them. TVXQ’s fans usually use the color of red to support them. It’s interesting because the whole Olympic Centre was blue or red at night. Some merchants used this chance to sell blue or red glowsticks.

I like Super Junior’s concert better. Their concert called SUPER SHOW. It’s the 3rd concert of Super Junior. Many performances were the same as the 1st one. It also has several new sections. A member named Heechul sang a new song called CRAZY. He almost made his fans crazy. Super Junior used props to make the concert more fun. They rode around the stage by a hobbyhorse. They used squirt gun shoot each other. They disguised themselves as 13 different characters in movies. Ryeowook disguised as Harry Potter. Shindong disguised as Tarzan. All the fans played with Super Junior all night long.

TVXQ is so famous in Asia. Five members of TVXQ are good-looking. The Olympic Centre was full of people. There were about 5,000 people who have bought tickets couldn’t entre the Olympic Centre, because there didn’t have enough space for them. I was in rock area, so we didn’t have seats. People squeezed me that I couldn’t breathe. It was less fun than the SUPER SHOW, but all the performers did a great job.

It’s cool to watch a concert at the very front. The performers work very hard. They show their effort to us. I am moved by them. It’s worth to buy such an expensive ticket to watch their performances.

THE EXHIBITION IN NANJING MUSEUM

Sherry and I went to an exhibition at Nanjing Museum on March 14th. We arrived at museum at 2 o'clock. The exhibition shows Chinese culture in the past. There are a lot of interesting things be shown. I am proud of my ancestors after I saw the exhibition. Everything is miracle.

The first artwork of my favorite is carving jade picture. Carving jade picture is the process of making jade. The first step is to pick up jade from the river or the stream. The second step is to cut some useless part of the jade. The third step is to cut a big jade to small pieces. The fourth step is to shape the jade. After polishing the jade, the jade can be sold.

I also like the artwork called Kwan-yin. The museum makes a beauty of distance. We cannot touch the artwork. This artwork was 2 meters away from us. We just can see the artwork from a special glass.I was shook by its beauty.

The artwork called Screen in Gold Lacquer was made in Qing Dynasty. It was made by people but not machine. It shows many details about rich people’s life. I believe the artist used many years to finish this artwork. The cutting skill is vivid. It shows at least 11 people. Each person has different appearances. The trees and leaves are around them. There also have three gloriettes and rocks. All the detials make the artwork wonderful.

After saw the exhibition in Nanjing Museum, I find that artists use their artwork to show their world. Art is fantastic.
